That’s quite interesting. The image in particular reminded me very strongly of something Pete Rollins said at gb this year; he said that “a form of atheism is central to Christianity”, by which he was saying that we don’t believe in a controlling god, but in a God who asks us to take responsibility for ourselves. Not quite the point you were originally making, but in my mind the image conjured up is strikingly similar.

(of course before discovering that you were named ‘rebel’, I already wondered about the revolutionary who was hung on a tree…)
