That’s quite interesting. The image in particular reminded me very strongly of something Pete Rollins said at gb this year; he said that “a form of atheism is central to Christianity”, by which he was saying that we don’t believe in a controlling god, but in a God who asks us to take responsibility for ourselves. Not quite the point you were originally making, but in my mind the image conjured up is strikingly similar.
