After The Fire
Last night I went to hear After The Fire playing just near Cambridge. They were absolutely excellent. The music was very tight and well rehearsed, and just flowed seamlessly from song to song. The lights were unusually good for a small venue too.
After The Fire have been joined fairly recently by singer/guitarist Rob Halligan. They did a few of his own songs too, which fitted beautifully into the band sound. Rob is a seriously good singer and leaks stage presence all over the place. How come I’ve never heard of him before? He should be famous.
The music was great, but there was something about the sheer joy of the event that was pretty infectious. Really set me up for Advent. I shall definitely drive over to their summer event. If they come and play near you, absolutely don’t miss it.

They are a fine band. “Signs of Change” is classic Christian art rock. I have to admit I like any album that Pete Banks plays on, but most especially the Narnia album. What a cracker!
Thanks – I didn’t realise they were still going.
Well, thank you for those kind words – I’m ATF’s sound man and taught the lighting man everything he knows (well, that’s how he puts it!). I thought I saw you there but wasn’t sure, plus didn’t really get time to speak to anyone. I agree, they’re a fantastic band, plus they do a good line in ‘unplugged’ service leading if anyone’s interested!
Best regards,
‘Bloke At The Back’
They are brilliant aren’t they! You may be interested to know that Rob and Gareth Davies-Jones, another very accomplished acoustic singer-songwriter, will be doing a gig in Milton, Cambridge, on 13th March, as part of their Fairtrade tour. We have seen them perform together before, and they are excellent. Details are at http://www.myspace.com/halliganmusic.
Best wishes, Jennie
thank you – I shall put that in the diary!
