Atheism and Faith
"I have a friend – a gifted pastor and spiritual guide – who is helping
someone lose his faith. He is convinced that the man’s picture of God
is destroying him, spiritually and mentally. It is deeply implicated in
the man’s moral and mental breakdown. Theologically, this picture of
God is expressed within orthodox language, but it is profoundly
destructive, and my friend’s discernment is that the person he is
journeying with will need to stop believing in this God before he can
consider whether a healthy and life-giving Christian faith is a real
possibility. The journey into atheism (or the way of negation) comes
with no guarantee about the route or conclusion."

This is dreadful for so many reasons not the least of which is that the state is transforming bonds of friendship and community into commercial relations. As if those bonds aren’t threatened enough already.
yes I’m afraid they’ll have to become childminders. Once the state has sanctioned your right to care for children then off you go. I’ve heard about crimes against humanity but I think there should be a crime against the state. Stupid legislation and enforcement that makes us regard the state with contempt and cynicism. This government have commited that crime times without number.
I’d seen that story, too. Utterly insane!
pax et bonum
bit of a jobsworth really,
although the item on Today, this morning suggested a possible bit of backtracking by Ofstead. One hopes so
and Erin’s point, one that I hadn’t thought of before, is powerful and sad
There’s a petition against it on the Number 10 website. Though given the PM’s not resigned yet I don’t know how much notice he really takes of these things.
