Holy Week
I’ve read a few things in the last week or so concerning the journey of Jesus towards Jerusalem and his Passion.
Moot is a community and a blog that I follow regularly, as I know some of the guys there. I played a tiny part in getting Moot started by acting as Patron, and they have done some fab and creative things over the last few years. Ian Mobsby has a new book appearing shortly, which looks v. interesting.
But the thing that particularly inspired me this week was this short talk on Martha, Lary and Lazarus, from Phil. (Go to Moot and click for the MP3)

Wow, he took no prisoners with that post… :O
Hi Maggi. I can see how this summary distortedly reflects some of what goes on (and may be more applicable in some US contexts), but as someone who has grown up within the evangelical tradition and remains within it, from my experience this is simply not a truthful account of an (open or hospitable) evangelical hermeneutic. For example – yes, whenever I read or hear the scriptures I do have to remain open to the possibility that through them God’s word might be speaking to me… but not necessarily about me… (a critical distinction of course). Still, you can hear the hurt in the Rev’s post, and I’m sorry that that has been his own experience.
