Jesus: born to tweet?

On November 24, 2009 / By maggi dawn / Reply

Cranmer reports that Jesus is pipped at the post only by Churchill as history’s best would-have-been twitterer.

According to Prospect editor David Goodhart: “Churchill and Jesus both specialised in brief, memorable phrases — so both ‘we will fight them on the beaches’ and ‘blessed are the meek’ are messages perfect for the Twitter generation. Jesus was obviously born to tweet.”

Somehow, I don’t think so.

  1. Sermon on the mount in 140 characters or less. I think JEsus was a bit better than that! Bizarre comparison. Does this mean that Virgil could have tweeted the Aenead because he could fit dactylic hexameter in the space? No wonder twitter is considered trivial by nonusers

  2. Born to tweet? That might be missing certain aspects of his incarnational mission! I could envisage Jesus tweeting but suspect many might find the messages a little bit close for comfort and end up unfriending him…
