The ever-provocative Jon Birch at ASBO Jesus put up a great cartoon. It set me thinking about choice and responsibility and religion. It made me remember some of the times I spent earlier in my life under very controlling Church regimes, being told that it was "God's way", and also being told, when I demurred, that I was a rebel.
As I commented on Jon's post, it was when I got together enough courage to set myself free, gradually, from control-based religion, I began to realise it wasn’t God who had been pulling the strings in the first place. But it was God who was helping me to cut them.
