In an increasingly secularised society few people have a good working knowledge of the Bible. Yet a great deal of our culture is built on stories or ideas that come from the Bible. I’ve only done some superficial clicking around, but so far every article I’ve seen on the site talks only about young women in the sex trade. That strikes me as odd — of teens on their own that I’ve known, pressure to turn tricks has been just as high for the men as for the women. Do you think this is just because the site is so new and content is still going up?
I don’t know Dylan – certainly the specific aspect they have highlighted is the trafficking of young women from abroad. Protest4 is a small and fledgling movement and has begun with just one issue. Part of P4’s ideology is that it’s better to do what you can within the society you’re in than do nothing. It’s trying to mobilise ordinary people to do some small thing to make the world a better place. So at least for now, it’s more focussed on specific action and one issue than on creating a news zone for the bigger picture. (I hope I’m not misrepresenting P4 here… watch their site for more!)
