“thank God you can give by credit card…”

Thank you kindly to all who prayed for me when I was ill recently. I’m glad that the good gifts of God include the discovery of antibiotics. And I am fortunate to have a very fine GP who looked after me extremely well, and gave me swift treatment. As it happens, she also shares my faith, and her medical expertise was delivered with the kind of grace and care that Jesus showed when he encountered ill people. I’m always happy to receive medical treatment and prayer in equal measure – I believe in them both, and have always regarded science as one of God’s gifts to us, not a threat to theology or faith.

Entertainingly enough, the extraordinary Todd Bentley, whose methods and beliefs I mentioned with more than a modicum of caution recently, apparently believes that the anointing is all in the kidneys. Perhaps that’s where i’ve been going wrong? If I had anointed kidneys, I would probably be earning a great deal more than I do as a regular minister too – something I realised on being invited to ”sow seeds of revival” here… (PS, just so you know, I shall not be donating to Todd Bentley’s “ministry”. I’d rather follow the instructions of Jesus, and feed the poor, the hungry, the widow and the orphan…)
