tutu says we are mean
Sometimes when world-scale politics and economics are being discussed at a level of expertise over your own head, it’s hard to know who to listen to and who to believe. There is always someone who will tell you that your passion for justice is misplaced because "you don’t understand the complexities of this".
I always listen to Archbishop Desmond Tutu, though. And he says the UK is being mean – and not living up to the spirit of 2005. Read more here.

I love the guy – I could listen to his “all! all!” speech over and over again.
Nice new look, by the way.
I had the privilege of meeting ++Desmond when I was in S. Africa last summer, and also heard him preach and teach a seminary class. One of the things I’ve learned to do is drop everything and listen as soon as he opens his mouth. The wisdom, experience, and godliness of his witness is invaluable.
I remember once watching Comic Relief on telly. Divina McColl was in a terrible slum somewhere in East Africa.
“Your money will help these people get a loan to buy their land off the 1% who own this entire town.”
I remember thinking: they don’t need money, they need a revolution. There is no substitute for justice.
It’s terrible that Tutu even has to ask.
Desmond Tutu is an amazing man who mixes humbleness with wisdom. Through the experience of living out the Christian idea of forgiveness he has elevated to a level of experience that few people.
When I heard him speak at a talk the thing that hangs with me is his marvelous laugh! Talk about giggling, that man is infectious!
Take care
