What Chaplains Do
I read a good post today on Get Out of Jail Free. AnneDroid writes about how, in the midst of staying on the pioneering edge of mission, it's really important to recognise that forms of Churcht hat may seem dead to you or me are alive and vital for other people. What's important, says Anne, is not picking holes in other people's way of being Church, but making sure we all move forward into a hopeful future.
Meantime, down the right sidebar of Anne's blog, there are three little icons entitled "what Chaplains do". One says, basically, "Im here for you". One is a teapot, with the caption "tea and sympathy" and the third is a pop version of Durer's praying hands. I am currently in the midst of a mad week, planning and executing the fourth major Chapel event of term, and I feel more like a Precentor than a Chaplain. There are times when College Chapels take on Cathedralesque functions, and being the sole Clergy at times like this is absolute madness. Must remember to "be there" and to pray in the middle of all this activity.

Amen
Thanks for the picture Maggi. I’ve always wondered what Tom looked like. The smile and the life in his eyes say a lot about him.
